Where You From?

Where You From?

Where You From?

The Yorkshire Post’s Arts Reporter, Nick Ahad, has just made his first short film – Where You From? – and it can be seen on my showreel page (http://www.alanjmoore.com/rave/myWimpy.html).

The film stars Deborah McAndrew from Coronation Street.

This was an enjoyable project and had one of the shortest deadlines I’ve ever worked to (a couple of nights!).  It goes to show just what can be achieved without a budget but an enthusiastic and talented cast and crew.

Hope you like my piano-based soundtrack too, of course ;-)

Read Nick’s story about making the film here: Action! Trials and tribulations of making my film debut

The Spell (Carey Films) Newsletter

July 10th, 2009 by Alan

Here’s an update on what’s going on in the world of ‘The Spell’ from Carey Films (original music by Yours Truly, of course!).

Please feel free to pass this newsletter/post on to interested parties and if you want any further information about the film, please get in touch at any time…

The first Spell Newsletter is ready! The first of what I hope will be many newsletters as the film begins it’s journey into the world. Below are the main points but if you would like to read the full version of the newsletter (with pretty pictures!) click on this link: www.careyfilms.com/thespell.html and then click on NEWSLETTER

TRAILER

So, moving on to the headlines, the first thing to mention is that the trailer for The Spell is now on YouTube and you can see it (and vote for it – anything less than 5 stars will not be considered acceptable!) by following this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alK1s6Kj-X4

OK, so that’s not mentioned in the newsletter but it only just happened!

IT’S EMMA’S STORY

For those of you that don’t know this, the story we tell in The Spell is based on a true story, the story of Emma Whale, a girl who phoned me about six or seven years ago wondering whether her story
would make a good film.

CINEMA RELEASE

The Spell opens in cinemas on 18th September, following its world premiere (assuming nothing changes between now and then!) and we will get our first taste of public reaction to the film. Getting a psychological thriller like The Spell to work is notoriously difficult but with three of the UK’s major cinema chains now saying they want to show the film in some of their cinemas, it clearly does work.

*CANNES*

Following our attendance at Cannes and screening The Spell there, we have received invitations to submit the film to two quite important film festivals (their Artistic Directors were at our first screening), so we’ve done that, no surprise there!

If this was forwarded to you and you would like to get the next newsletter direct, as soon as it is ready, send an email to: newsletter@careyfilms.com and we’ll add you to the list.

OK! That’s it, until next time! Now go and vote for the trailer – yes! Do it now! Here’s the link again:

All the best

Owen

Exciting stuff!

Don’t forget to get in touch if you’d like any information about the film or my soundtrack.
