The Spell: MIPTV, Cannes, BAFTAs and BBC Look North
My latest film soundtrack (The Spell, Carey Films) went to MIPTV at the end of March with a view to getting potential sales agents and distributors. Carey Films received financial support for the outing from both Screen Yorkshire and UK Trade & Investment and were part of the UK Indies Pavillion.
Carey Films were also there trying to sell A Mind of Her Own (which also has the benefit of my soundtrack!) to television broadcasters.
The Spell will be going to the Cannes Film Festival & Market in a couple of weeks time and this will be the film’s first serious attempt at selling the movie to sales agents and distributors. The film will be screened twice in the Marche du Film.
Also, terms have been agreed for the theatrical release of the film through Vue Cinemas later this year.
The film will be now be eligible for the BAFTAs next year and Carey Films are intending to have a BAFTA campaign which will include sending DVDs of the film to all BAFTA members.
And finally… for those of you in Yorkshire, the film’s producer and director (Owen Carey Jones) will be interviewed live on BBC Look North at 6:30 pm on Friday 8th May and they will be showing one or two clips from the film during the interview.
Sounds encouraging!
