Avatar Leads Empire Awards Nominations (But Should It?)

February 26th, 2010

Despite some of the corniest dialogue I’ve ever heard in a film, it seems like Avatar can do no wrong. Am  I the only one that cringed at the inappropriate swearing in the film?  It seemed out of place in what is essentially a kids film.  Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against swearing if the context is right, but it definitely was off the mark in Avatar. It felt like they thought they had to throw in a few expletives as this is the norm now.  How sad!

How can they get everything else right (fx, look and feel, plot, etc)?

I’d be interested to hear what other people think. Is this another film that has been hyped beyond its true value?

James Cameron’s “Avatar” is tipped to continue its winning streak at the upcoming Empire magazine film awards, after landing five top nominations. The 3D blockbuster received nods in the Best Film and Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy categories.
